Our new friend over at Battalion Armour got inspired to make a video for the track “Masco” off of the Miles Remixed album that just got released at illroots/okayplayer.
Here is a quote from Battalion Armour LAB:
This project was inevitable from the moment I received the link from DJ Jamad to download Miles Remixed by Apple Juice Kid. I’ve been a fan of Miles Davis since grade school but had never heard him like this. Apple Juice Kid’s remix album allowed me to see things in the sounds and from track one I was daydreaming. After coming across the Perlinger archive I snapped together some cuts and within an hour or so I was rendering the finished product. I gave Apple Juice Kid the first look and got his blessing on it.

Our friends over at DJBOOTH just posted this song apple juice did with Matthew Johnson, an incredible talented singer who lives in Atlanta and sings back up for India Arie. Here is what DJBOOTH had to say:
Apple Juice Kid ft. Matthew Johnson – Clocks in ATL
Let’s face it; we all have questions that keep us up late at night. While some of these mind-boggling queries might be about topics like the meaning of life, some are quite trivial, such as “What would you get if you mixed Coldplay with Big Boi’s now-defunct Purple Ribbon All-Stars?” Well, readers, the answer has arrived! Straight out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina (home to the UNC Tar Heels) comes producer Apple Juice Kid, who teams up with Atlanta singer Michael Johnson for a record that mixes Coldplay’s Clocks record and the bridge from the P.R.A.S. hit single Kryptonite (I’m On It) to form the appropriately-titled Clocks in ATL. To hear more from the AJ Kid, check out his brand new Miles David remix project here.

This is a moslty instrumental album using only Miles Davis samples, that was originally intended to be a modern soundtrack to a movie about the life of Miles Davis. The last track features Yahzarah and Raheem Devaughn, two very talented vocalists that I loved working with. I have been a huge supporter of Okayplayer for a long time, ever since my former band Sankofa was opening for The Roots, and am extremely excited to have Illroots partner with them to release this album for FREE!!!
Also featuring musicians/artists, Matt Brandau(bass), Mark Wells(keys), DJ Merlin(cuts, mastering), Daniel Hart(violin), Reed Benjamin(cover art), and Drew Valentini(cover art).
